Federer was soundly beaten by one of the rising stars of international tennis,Noavak Djkovic, at the 2008 Australian Open, and was defeated by Rafael Nadal at the 2009 event. Since then Federer had been battling with his form and has not yet claimed a single title in the 2009 season before the French open.
