Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) finds himself in the heart of the Vatican trying to save the lives of innocent Catholics against a secret society out to destroy the authority of the Church.
The knight-in-shining armour has for his help, a pretty young scientist Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) whose experiment is being used to threaten the very existence of the Vatican.
For about two-and-a-half hours the twosome zips around from one end of the Vatican City to the other in black sedans stumbling upon one corpse after another. Robert Langdon, miraculously cured of his claustrophobia, even manages to squeeze himself through tiny passageways and hidden dungeons.
The Vatican – having strongly disapproved of The Da Vinci Code – has been quite welcoming ofAngels and Demons. The official Vatican newspaper has given this movie a positive review calling it 'harmless entertainment'.
Indeed, Angels and Demons manages to entertain. Though you wish it did so through all the 138 minutes of its runtime.
