Chandni Chowk To China Review - 4/5

i managed to watch cc2c this afternoon .

The film starts off with a kung-fu fight with ancient chinese legend ( lui sheng ) fighting till his death . . and then akshay is shown as his re-incarnation .. the rest involves how akshay ( Sidhu) lands up in china and how chopstick ( ranvir shorey ) traps him into big trouble .. and how he gets out of it ..

The first half of the film is thoroughly entertaining and ends with a sad note .. the comic parts are hillarious and akshay is in full form yet again . . the songs are nice and apt for the situtations .. Mithun Chakraborthy is good and does his role well . Deepika completely surprises with her looks and she is fabolous in the action sequences .

the second half mainly is about how akshay takes his revenge on the villian ( Hojo ) and the Chek Lein De is very nice and humorous ( Akshay's training for kung fu ) . The entertainment levels dont drop much .. but the sentiment scenes between the deepika twins ( dual role by deepika ) and their father are bit irritating ..

The climax fight but is appropriate and has a comic touch to it .

Overall . .the movie is completely enjoyable from the beginning to the end . The performance by akshay is top class and he rox . Deepika , Ranvir and the other chinese have also done well . The music is nice and hummable ..

My Rating would be 4/5 .

And yea there is some good news for akshay .. fans .. at the end of the movie . "Chandni Chowk to Africa " was announced

v actually went to see arundati , box dint come from 2 days for tht movie , so when v were abt to go i heard someone talkin abt CC2C tickets , i thought it was for 16th and wanted to take them. then he said it was todays . they actually released the movie on 15th .

TAKE a break Akshay! You've spoilt us by making us laugh so many times with some of the snazziest comic scenes of contemporary cinema, performed with such elan. Needless to say, it shocks us to sit through your latest venture with a straight face that doesn't pucker up even once, despite your desperate tomfoolery on screen.

Real potato heads we must be, for wondering why nothing tickles our funny bone when you get kick assed in Chandni Chowk and reach the sky; when you get bludgeoned in China, without losing your goofy grin; when you crack jokes about chaddis , walnuts and what not, and we can't see what's funny. Sorry buddy! Either we're losing it or you need to reinvent yourself as the Hera Pheri scamster. The hokey-jokey stuff is losing its tang, as is the yokel act: almost a bore. So much so, Happy Singh in Singh is King seems almost like a classic compared to seedha-saadha Siddhu.

The trouble with Chandni Chowk to China (CC2C) is its toothless story that barely traces the transition of a low brow vegetable chopper from paranthe wali galli to the Great Wall of China, where he is mistaken as a lost messiah, Liu Sheng.

Siddhu's transcontinental journey with a potato and a conman (Ranvir Shorey) for company remains rootless and purposeless, despite the fact that the pulverised locals believe he will deliver them from the evil Hojo (Gordon Liu) and his henchmen who include the ornamental Miao Miao (Deepika Padukone).

Siddhu's blabberings and buffoonery take a perfunctory back seat when Hojo kills off his Dada (Mithun) who keeps egging him on to fight, despite being a ghost. Time for our joker to learn the moves from his kung fu trainer (Roger Yuan) summarily pulled out from the Great Wall itself.

How did he reach there? Now that's another convoluted story about a daddy-gone-missing, twin Deepikas going their separate ways and destiny bringing them all together against their common enemy: hat thrower, Hojo.

The film is low on both IQ and EQ. On the one hand, the story rambles incoherently. On the other, there is no emotional connect with any of the characters, unlike Akshay's earlier comic acts where he always managed to strike a chord with the audience. You might end up applauding some of the action cuts, where our one-man-army showcases his expertise with chopsucky, but this ain't no crouching tiger, Shaolin chamber, fist of fury footwork.

While Akshay relentlessly plays over the top, Deepika looks lost and forlorn for most of the film. Ranvir Shorey, was that you? Tch Tch! The only decent act comes from that old warhorse, Mithunda who tries to bring some normalcy in the proceedings.

Somewhere in the tamasha, Akshay confesses he doesn't care if he was Liu Sheng or a macchar (mosquito) in his last birth. Frankly, my dear, even we wouldn't give a damn! Maybe Drona would.

serious i watched the movie and it's good .

i also watched the movie on 15th at eluru!
might be the kostha andhra side they released it a bit early!

this movie is pure crap..

i went with full expectations..after watching this crappy movie i was like

right from the beginning it was boring..just a few good jokes and dats it..

AK acted well but this movie has such a bad storyline that even he couldnt do anything to save this movie..in some scenes i felt like he overacted a bit..

deepika padukone needs to improve her acting skills..yep she's still a rookie..her action sequences were very good cos she learnt kung-fu for this movie.

ranvir shourie was 2nd best after akshay..gr8 comedian

this movie has a lot of brainless scenes like~

there is a scene where AK and Deepika fall from a skyscraper and then they use an umbrella, (as a parachute

)they keep flying for a while and then comes a song "tere naina".

sentiment scenes during fighting sequences looked soo dumb..

the song after the movie is totally inappropriate (akki calls himself as baadshah or king in that song) as the movie was so bad..akki is no king now after this movie..

This has to be the worst of 2009..wait for the dvd or watch some pirated version..don't go to the theatre and watch this..watch some other nice movies instead
