 The prestigious Padma awards were presented at the capital yesterday (April 5) and this year’s recipients saw a mix of people from the field of entertainment, sports, business and even politics. The recipients of this year’s Padma Vibhushan Award included veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle, master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Infosys chief mentor N.R.Narayana Murthy, renowned hotelier P.R.S.Oberoi and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The Padma Vibhushan is now the highest civilian honor in India since the govt. has not announced any recipients of the Bharat Ratna from the year 2001.
