People these days are increasingly spending more time on their PCs. Because of this they often suffer from neck pain, lower back pain
, headaches, breathing difficulties, eye strain etc. All of these could be related to how one sit in front of his PC for hours at a time every day, barely moving, eyes fixed on the screen with deadlines to meet.
Improper workstation set-up, a fragile eye teaming or eye focusing system, or poor visual hygiene can aggravate these symptoms. Thus one needs to be aware of how the design and arrangement of our equipment can impact our comfort, health, and productivity.
Here are some tips on how to improve your posture while working on your PC.
Body postures
* Keep your head and neck in a neutral posture;
* Avoid excessive neck flexion or rotation.
* Within you comfort zone, change postures often through out the day.
* Pay attention to any tension, discomfort or pain you feel
* Be sure you have sufficient space under your work surface for your knees and legs
* While typing or using a pointing device, keep your forearms, wrists, and hands in their neutral comfort zone
* Give your eyes frequent breaks. Periodically look away from the monitor and focus at a distant point
* This may also be a good time to stretch, breathe deeply, and relax
* Cradling your phone between your ear and shoulder may lead to neck, shoulder, and back discomfort, try using headphones.
