Headache

Headache

The term headache
literally means a pain in the head. It is one of the most common reasons that a person seeks medical care.
There are several types,
1) including tension headache,
2) migraine headache, and 3) cluster headache.
Infrequently, headaches may be a symptom of a more serious disease.

Headache can also be classified as either acute or chronic. An acute headache is a single event of short duration and is not related previous, recurrent episodes. With or without painkillers, the acute headache sufferer will have a full and complete recovery without long term effects. Most humans have had temporary head pain, such as headaches caused by exposure to paint fumes, unrelated to a pattern of recurrent headache.

Causes of Headaches

Tension headaches are thought to be caused by contraction of the muscles around the skull. These headaches are worse during times of stress, depression, and anxiety.

Migraine headaches
are thought to be caused by cycle of spasm and relaxation of the blood vessels in the head.

Although the exact cause of cluster headaches is unknown, they too, are thought to be associated with changes in the blood vessels of the head. More serious causes of headaches include tumors, blood clots, and infections.

A good medical history and physical exam will be sufficient in diagnosing most types of headaches. In some cases, x-rays or scans of the head and sinuses may be necessary.

Home Remedies for Headaches

1) Filling up the tub with hot water and sitting on the edge with your feet in the water is an excellent home remedy for any headache. It draws the blocked energy down from your head to your feet and reconnects the long energy currents of the body.

2) A vigorous foot massage will sometimes bring relief from headaches. The feet have reflex points to places all over the body and a good massage can get the energy moving again.

3) White Cuscus grass and watermelon seeds grind together in equal amounts, take three grams of the mixture twice a day to get effective relief for headache.

4) Application of dry ginger paste on the forehead is also effective for headache.

5) Apply sandal wood paste on the forehead to get rid from headache.

6) Wrap ice in a towel and keep on the forehead when you first notice pain, this will give you good relief from headache. But make sure do not put the ice directly on your head.

7) Make paste of dry ginger with adding little water and apply on the forehead. It gives good relief.

8) It feels good to relax with a warm cup of herbal tea and quiet our minds before tackling a busy evening.

9) Watch comedy shows as much as possible. Laughter is the best remedy for tension headaches.

If you are a headache sufferer, you try these home remedies given above for prevention and get rid of your headache. You will surely find good relief and works for you. Headaches Be Gone!
